Best Ever Green Bean Casserole

This is not THE green bean casserole that has been around for years.  I got this from a lady in our church when Larry was in seminary.  When I serve it, I am always asked for the recipe.  I hope you will give it a try.


The Better Green Bean Casserole





2 cans french style green beans, drained
1 small can of sliced water chestnuts, drained
1/2 cup sliced almonds
3/4 cups grated medium cheddar cheese
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 can undiluted cream of mushroom soup  (do not use low sodium or "healthy" version)
1 small can French's Onion Rings (divided)

Mix all together, except 1/2 of the onion rings.  Put in a 9x11 pyrex dish or other 2 quart dish.  Top with remaining onion rings.

Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

You can prepare this the day before and refrigerate overnight.
