Crock Pot Swiss Steak
I enjoy this recipe because it has a wonderful aroma and is so flavorful. Chop left-over meat and peppers for a great sandwich served warm on a crusty roll.
Swiss Steak: Serves 4-6
2 lbs of round steak
Trim fat, cut into serving sized pieces, coat with flour, brown in olive oil and place in a heated crock pot. Pour 1 dry envelope onion soup mix over the meat.
Add:
1 lb can of whole tomatoes (no seasoning or sugar added)
Small can tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
2 green bell peppers, sliced in rings (seeds discarded)
2 teaspoons of pepper
1 lb bag of baby carrots
Cook on high for 4 hours, turn to low for 2-4 hours until the meat is tender.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes and garlic toast. You can also cook red potatoes in the crock pot with this recipe.
(Check the seasoning when you turn the crock pot to low and add more if desired.
